About Shree Siddhivinayak Temple, Mumbai

Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple is one of the most famous and visited Ganesh temples in India. Located in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, it was built in 1801 with funds from Deubai Patil, a devout woman who prayed that Lord Ganesha would bless childless women with children. Today, the temple is managed by the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple Trust.

The idol of Siddhivinayak is especially revered because:

- It is carved from a single black stone, about two and a half feet tall
- The trunk turns to the right, a rare form of Ganesha considered very powerful and quick to fulfil devotees' wishes
- Lord Ganesha has four hands, holding a lotus, a small axe, holy beads, and a bowl of modaks
- He is flanked by his consorts Riddhi and Siddhi, goddesses of prosperity and success
- A third eye on the forehead resembles that of Lord Shiva

Because of his reputation for granting wishes, devotees lovingly call him "Navasacha Ganpati", the Ganpati who fulfils vows. The temple's carved wooden doors depict the eight forms of Ashtavinayak, and the inner sanctum features a gold-plated ceiling.

What Are the Daily Aartis at Siddhivinayak Temple?
